David Haye Vs Tony Bellew Fight Preview

On the eve of a fight between Tony Bellew and David Haye, the British Boxing Board Of Control claimed as “unacceptable”. On this occasion, David Haye said that his opponent could “die” in the ring. After that Haye’s fan telling his decision to call Bellew’s fans “f****** retards” is “harmful”.

“I’m really angry that David Haye isn’t going to apologize for calling people the n-word. For someone that is supposed to be a role model it is totally unacceptable,” said Leroy Binns, a Mencap campaigns assistant who has a learning disability.

“Lots of his fans, like me, might be disabled and what does it look like to them to hear him saying that? All hateful language is wrong and is harmful. There is no excuse to use that language and he should know better. David Haye needs to publically apologise.”

David Haye, who has already been warned by the BBBofC over his comments when they meet on Wednesday and spoke to Express Sport yesterday that they intensified their criticism.

“But I’m also disappointed in it personally, as an ex-boxer, because this is just not required – but you must put it into perspective. We have 13 shows on Saturday night and, although this is the highest profile contest, everybody else is acting exceptionally well. Last year we had 256 tournaments, this year we have 42 in March alone and we are talking about one contest.

“But I understand where the media is coming from. Mr. Haye has said some things that are not acceptable – or deemed to be acceptable – and the board will deal with that.

“Look at Anthony Joshua and Wladimir Klitschko; they sold about 90,000 tickets in a few hours – and they haven’t said anything nasty have they?”

The big surprise for this event is that tickets sold out in 15 minutes and when they went on sale in November o bring in a gate of £2.5m while pay-per-view sales are expected to be around 600,000, which would be worth £10m.
