Mike Leigh’s “All or Nothing” album looks behind three doors in a public property in South London and finds it with loneliness, helplessness and a stubborn line of humor. They are trying to remember a time when characters are lighthearted and hopeful. But there are very few hurried for food and sleep, telly, Saturday night pubs, and kids who are grateful for their young, thoughtless sex to cheer them up right now.
Phil Bassett, played by sadly-faced and injured Timothy Spall, is a minicab driver looking straight into the back seat when drama opens. His wife, Penny (Lesley Manville), is a cashier on Safeway.
